Training (Ear Candling)
Thermo-Auricular Therapy or Ear Candling is an ancient treatment brought up to date with the inclusion of Auricular massage and head and sinus drainage massage.
Many people believe that ear candling is the most relaxing therapy created with often an immediate and continued sense of calm and peace.
Thermo-Auricular therapy is safe when conducted by a qualified professional and may be indicated for the following:
- Ear wax build up
- Noises in the Ears
- Sinus congestion
- Headaches
- Colds
- Mild hearing problems
- Hayfever
- Stress related hair loss
- Before and After Flying for ear pressure and to help prevent germs taking hold
- After Diving to regulate ear pressure
- To help the body to adjust to seasonal changes

- For conditions affecting balance

Thermo-Auricular therapy is helpful for most ear, nose and throat associated problems.
Many therapists experience Ear Candling and are so impressed that they want to train so they too can help others with this marvellous therapy. Also if you are a body worker and your hands take a lot of strain throughout the day then ear candling is a joy to offer your clients. It is as relaxing for the practitioner as the client!
Standards in ear candling vary greatly so it is important to choose a properly accredited course that is recognised for insurance purposes and offers you the most comprehensive syllabus.
Allison is an experienced, accredited trainer for the Thermo-Auricular Therapy Association.

The Course
This One Day Practitioner Training course is designed for qualified therapists who have already studied Anatomy and Physiology. The theory is covered in the morning with Power point lecture, group activities, anecdotes and a few surprises! The afternoon is practical with demonstration and then practice. Everyone must give and receive a treatment to understand the therapy fully.
The course content includes:
- The history and origins of Ear candling
- What the ear candles are made of and the effects of the ingredients
- How the Ear Candles work
- Conditions that Thermo-Auricular Therapy can help
- Contra-indications and precautions
- How often and how long to treat
- Working with children
- Preparation of treatment area
- Practitioner protocols
- Explaining the treatment to your client
- Assessing your clients needs
- How much to charge, marketing ideas
- Giving and receiving a full treatment
- Auricular Massage
- Head and Sinus massage including relevant facial and ear acupressure points
- Written assessment
A Practitioner Certificate is issued upon:
1. Successful completion of the written assessment. This is designed to check the candidates understanding of Thermo-Auricular Therapy and is very straight forward if participation has been active throughout the day.
2. A summary of three treatments on three people forming your case study work. Full details of the requirements are given on the day. There is ample time given to complete this work post course.
3. A short written reflective piece of work on Thermo-Auricular Therapy to be submitted with case studies. Full details given on course day.
Each course is run from 10am until 5pm with 45 minutes for lunch

The cost of the course is £130, this includes:
The Comprehensive Practitioner Manual (equivalent to a book!)
The Candles used during the course
Refreshments throughout the day (lunch is not normally included)

Additional costs:
Realistically you need to factor in the cost of the candles you need for your case studies (minimum 9 pairs of candles).
